What We Work Through Before Quoting a Two-Charger House
These are the questions that separate a straightforward second circuit from a service upgrade.
The Rest of What We Do in Chandler
Chargers tend to arrive with a panel question attached. The other Chandler pages:
Before You Add the Second Charger
1.Can my panel run two chargers at once?
That is the calculation rather than a guess, and the answer is often no on a service that took the first one without difficulty. Two continuous loads is where houses run out of headroom. It does not mean you cannot have two chargers.
2.Is load management a compromise?
Not in the way people fear. Equipment that shares a total between two units is a designed solution rather than a workaround, and for two cars parked overnight, it is frequently invisible in use. The compromise would be assuming they never coincide.
3.Can you work with a charger I already bought?
Usually, provided it is listed equipment and suits the location. Bring the model details to the assessment. What we will not do is install something whose listing or condition we cannot establish, because the circuit behind it is ours to stand behind.
4.Should I run conduit for the second one now?
If a second car is likely, yes. It is the easiest decision on this list to act on and the only one you cannot revisit later without opening the wall. Conduit and a conductor route put in while the wall is open remove most of the second installation. The decision only exists once.
